On April 17, Idaho Governor Butch Otter signed H0220, a bill adopting the 2006 versions of several I-Codes, including the International Building Code (IBC), sections of the International Residential Code (IRC), the International Existing Building Code (IEBC). The legislation also re-affirmed the state's use of the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), which was first adopted in 2007.
The bill also provides for an effective date of January 1 in the year following the adoption of subsequent I-Code editions by the Idaho Building Code Board. Furthermore, the legislation provides for adoption of subsequent codes through an expanded negotiated rule making process with written notice to affected parties. It also restricts local jurisdictions from adopting amendments to the codes not adopted by the Board, unless the local jurisdiction does so by ordinance after a public hearing with written notice to the affected parties.
