Missouri Governor Signs Bill Supporting Utility Energy Efficiency

On July 13, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon signed into law the Energy Efficient Investment Act (Senate Bill 376), which aims to meet increased demand for electric power while protecting the environment and holding costs down for consumers.

Missouri Legislature Introduces Green State Building Standards

On February 23, a bill was introduced in the Missouri state senate committing large portions of state infrastructure to sustainable practices.

Missouri Passes Broad Energy Efficiency Legislation

During the summer of 2008, the state of Missouri passed a wide-ranging package of energy efficiency initiatives, including homeowner tax incentives and minimum energy standards for state buildings. Passed in the state legislature on May 29 and signed by then-Governor Matt Blunt on July 10, the bill (SB 1181) approved a series of energy efficiency provisions, including among others:

Missouri Legislature Considers Two Pieces of Energy Code Legislation

Senate Bill 1263 would modify energy efficiency requirements for public buildings, create energy efficiency standards for certain products, and create home improvement energy efficiency incentive programs.

Senate Bill 1117 would create requirements and provide incentives for environmentally sustainable buildings.

Both bills were referred to the Senate Commerce, Energy and the Environment Committee. On March 6, 2008 a hearing was conducted regarding both bills.

Missouri Legislature Considers Energy Bill

On January 28, 2008, House Bill 1863 (Energy Conservation) was introduced.  It would require all state buildings to meet the International Energy Conservation Code by July 1, 2010, and requires state agencies to purchase lowest lifecycle cost equipment. State agencies must reduce their energy use by 15% by July 1, 2013, and may reinvest the savings to provide for infrastructure needs of their facilities.
